We watched a couple of old episodes of The Monkees tonight. The Monkees are one of those things of the past that some say are best left to childhood memories. I remember that show from way back. Watching it reminded me how silly and slapstick those guys were back in the day. Funny thing is, I still found myself laughing at that show.

In a previous post, Taylor tells about how we can relate to so many things we’ve lived “…because we remember what it’s like to be a kid. We remember the good, the bad, the hurt, the simple joy. We remember where we came from.”

How true that is! Watching The Monkees is a breath of fresh air. Good times passed, but we’re still enjoying it today.

Taylor appreciates the past. So much so, that over the years, she’s come to appreciate The Monkees. Slacker Radio has an awesome archive of their stuff. When the contemporary drones on and you’re running out of something good to listen to, give The Monkees a shot. Lighten up Francis, clear your head and let yourself admit Pop music really is ok!

Here’s a picture of one of Taylor’s birthday presents. An autographed drum head from Mickey Dolenz, signed to her! Holy shit, best birthday present ever!
